Mini Mystery Getaway

Image
To celebrate my sister’s recent engagement (yay!), my mum decided to take myself and my sister away for two nights. Mum kept the holiday destination a mystery right up until we arrived at the hotel at around 3:00 on Sunday afternoon. Our two nights away were spent in the Coogee Sands Hotel, right on Coogee Beach.  We settled into our studio hotel room before heading off for a walk on the beach. The water was freezing, however the sun was pleasantly warm. We explored the rocks, rock pools and sea baths, and I paused periodically to take photos of the sea life. We enjoyed fish and chips from a local store on the beach that night. Our hotel was next door to The Pavilion (they have delicious breakfast!), and the partying did not stop until around 11:30… which meant we had a rough start to our sleep for the first night, but slept well after the party-goers had left. For day 2, mum had planned for us to embark on the Coastal Walk between Coogee Beach and Bondi Beach. We walked...

Travelling through Table Tennis

Image
I have had the pleasure of representing my country in  a sport I love, and along side it I have been granted the amazing opportunity to travel around Australia and around the World. During my 7 years of being in the national team, I have been able to travel to so many places that I would have never thought of visiting if I had the choice.  From islands close to home like Guam, New Caledonia and Fiji to places a little further like Korea, Thailand, Cape Town and Taiwan just to name a few! Who would've thought that an interest in a garage sport allowed me to fly 19 hours to the other side of the World? Next blog from me will be more details of each of these countries I've visited, what you should do if you visit these countries, and also tips for short and long haul flights to fight weather changes and time differences! Stayed tuned for my next blog!! Antong Angel Zhang (aka Antonia)

Soldiers Point

One of my families favourite places to go for a week away is Soldiers Point. It's a short 1.5 hour drive from the Central Coast, and is the ideal relaxing destination. Photo: Megan We always hire a house right on the water, there are heaps to choose from. Photo: Megan Visit http://www.omeara.com.au/location-info/soldiers-point/ for some seriously good service, and an excellent range of properties to choose from. The water is usually super flat and it's an awesome place to learn how to Stand up paddle board. BYO paddle board or head into town and hire a paddle board or kayak. http://paddleportstephens.com.au/ Photo: Megan Some other awesome things to do here include:  - Tobogganing at Toboggan hill park ( www.tobogganhillpark.com/) - A dolphin watching tour ( dolphinswimaustralia.com.au/) - Encounter sharks and stingrays ( sharkencounters.com.au/) - Ride horses on the beach ( www.saharatrails.com/)  - MEGAN

Queen Charlotte Track- New Zealand

Image
For the adventurous and outdoorsy, the Queen Charlotte track in New Zealand offers a stunning hiking experience throughout the entire 80km journey. It's not an easy trek, but it is worth every second. From the ocean, to mountains to the wildlife, the hike is exciting and rewarding. Ensure you pack blister packs because the trek takes it out of your feet. Just one of the stunning views Photo: Megan Personally, I carried my hiking bag full of gear for the 4 day journey, however services are available to have your luggage transported to each accommodation destination. Private transport to ship cove from Picton is available, the boats drop you to the beginning of the track. From there the journey begins. When you arrive at Anakiwa (the end of the track) the same transport companies are available to return you back to Picton. Arriving in Anakiwa Photo: Megan DOWNLOAD THE TRAVEL BROCHURE HERE http://www.doc.govt.nz/Documents/parks-and-recreation/tracks-and-walks/nel...

Hi everyone and welcome to our travel blog. We are Australian University students from different backgrounds, with varying travelling experience. Throughout this blog, will be sharing our experiences and travel tips and tricks.   Photo : World Travel Guide  But first, where have our authors been? Megan : In my almost 20 years of life I've been blessed with the opportunity for adventure. I used to be a competitive swimmer, and with my swimming came a lot of travelling around the country to compete. I've stood in every state in Australia, and seen some gorgeous sites. I haven't been to the middle of Australia yet, but it is on my bucket list. I've remained on the coast lines my whole life living 3 minutes from the beach, and  I never tire of looking at the ocean. In 2012, my school travelled to Japan and I was lucky enough to go on this excursion. I spent two weeks exploring Japanese culture and loved every minute of it. In 2014 as part of my Gold Duke of Edi...
