Guam: A Hidden Paradise

Guam is an amazing little island situated in Micronesia in west of the Pacific Ocean. It is a U.S island territory with lots of WWII history and significance.

I still remember the welcome ceremony we received at the airport the moment we hopped off the plane. Native Chamorro people handed us handmade shell lays and placed them around our necks at 5am in the morning. The island is located fairly close to the equator, so you could imagine the heat we were experiencing right at sunrise. Upon arrival to our hotel, you are able to witness the amazing beaches with the whitest sand and the clearest water you could have ever seen!

TIP: Although I stayed at a very nice hotel with the best facilities and great food, always be careful of the water. Besides within Australia, I tend to only drink bottled water overseas. It is something that you should be conscious about to avoid getting sick.

If you were ever to visit Guam and have a love for history, then the Pacific War Museum is for you! The museum has many artefacts and exhibits from WWII, it depicts the battle for the island, summarises the Japanese occupation and focuses on the U.S marines too.

Another place worth visiting is Two Lovers Point. It is a panoramic lookout with a sad story behind it. It is very similar to the story of Romeo and Juliet, a forbidden love left them no choice but to jump off that cliff as soldiers closed in on them. Two Lovers Point is an amazing lookout with views that will take your breath away.

Guam may not seem like the typical place to visit, but it really is a hidden treasure, so you must pay a visit!!!!!!!
